Smith Cars Transparency Policy
Consumer Protection
In the UK, consumers purchasing used cars from a car dealer are protected by several key regulations, primarily governed by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Description and Satisfactory Quality
The car must match the description provided by the dealer and be of satisfactory quality. It should be fit for purpose, free from defects, and reasonably durable.
Roadworthiness
Used cars must be roadworthy at the time of sale. Dealers are responsible for ensuring that vehicles meet basic safety and performance standards.
Pre-Contract Information
Dealers are obligated to provide clear and accurate information about the vehicle before the sale, including its main characteristics, history, and any known defects.
Remedies for Faulty Goods
If a fault is discovered within 30 days of purchase, consumers have the right to a full refund, repair, or replacement. After 30 days, additional options, such as a price reduction or final right to reject, may apply. For the options available to you in the event of a substantial failure please ask Smith Cars for details.
Statutory Warranty
Consumers are entitled to expect that the vehicle is free from significant defects for a reasonable period, this is sometimes referred to as the "statutory warranty."
Unfair Commercial Practices
Dealers must not engage in unfair commercial practices, such as misleading advertising or aggressive sales tactics.

Written Confirmation
Consumers are entitled to receive written confirmation of the terms of the sale, including details of any warranties, guarantees, or after-sales services. Smith Cars warranties are provided by The AutoGroup.

Smith Cars Transparency Policy
Long Distance Selling Regulations for Used Car Sales
As part of our commitment to transparency and adherence to UK statutory regulations, we would like to clarify our policy regarding the sale of used cars under the Long Distance Selling Regulations.

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, commonly known as the Long Distance Selling Regulations, consumers have certain rights when entering into contracts at a distance, such as online or over the phone. However, these regulations do not apply to the sale of used vehicles.

Our Policy on Used Car Sales
Our business model primarily involves the sale of used cars directly from our premises. It is important to note that, by default, the Long Distance Selling Regulations do not apply to the sale of used cars. This means that our standard practice is to sell vehicles exclusively from our premises.

Exceptions Agreed in Writing
In certain cases, we may agree to a sale outside our premises, and this exception must be explicitly agreed upon in writing. If you are interested in purchasing a vehicle under such circumstances, we kindly request that you contact our sales team to discuss the details and document any agreement in writing.

Your Consumer Rights
While Long Distance Selling Regulations may not apply to used car sales, your consumer rights remain protected under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. This legislation ensures that the vehicle you purchase is of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described.

Contact Us for Clarification
If you have any questions or require further clarification about our sales policies, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our team is here to assist you and provide the necessary information to ensure a transparent and satisfactory car-buying experience.
